Music

You’ll find CDs on sale pretty much everywhere, from subway kiosks to department stores. The cheaper the price the more likely it’s a fake but in my experience the quality is the same.

The album cover you clicked on to reach this page is Capital by Belarus' biggest band Lyapis Trubetskoy. The video to the title track, which features a gallery of world leaders such as Fidel Castro and Alexander Lukashenko, has achieved cult status on You Tube.

Ministeriya Zvuka (Министерия Звука)
Nemiga 12 (Немига 12)
10:00-20:00 Mon-sat, 11:00-18:00 Sun
Minsk’s largest CD and DVD shop has a great selection of music, including classical and jazz sections.  On the ground floor you’ll find pop and rock from western artists. Up the stairs on the mezzanine floor there are sections for Russian and Belarusian music. DVDs are in the basement. They have a smaller outlet in the subway near MacDonald’s on Prospekt Nezavisimosti.

Dynamo Stadium (Стадион «Динамо»)
10:00-17:00 Tues-Sun. Closed Mondays
Kirova 8 (Кирова 8)
This is listed under markets too. There are plenty of CD and DVD stalls dotted around the vast concourse at knockdown prices.
